Louis Vuitton will showcase the exhibition ‘Timeless Muses’ at the Tokyo Station Hotel from August 31st until September 23rd.

Louis Vuitton has been inspired by a number of fascinating women throughout the history of the House. Some have a long standing relationship with Louis Vuitton and others have inspired products or entire collections. One woman in particular, the Empress Eugènie, played a key role in the life of Louis Vuitton himself. Her aura, influence and passion for travel fuelled his worldwide fame and she became the house’s first and devoted ambassadress.

The exhibition ‘Timeless Muses’, which is hosted in the recently renovated Tokyo Station Hotel, allows visitors to discover not only Empress Eugènie but also five other fascinating women who are part of the Louis Vuitton story. Charlotte Perriand, Françoise Sagan, Catherine Deneuve, Kate Moss and Sofia Coppola all light up the world around them and possess an individual vision. Adventuresses, pioneers and conquerors of a world in motion, these six women are Louis Vuitton’s muses.

Open now to the public, the exhibition ‘Timeless Muses’ uses immersive digital technology to enable visitors to discover these six exceptional women.

  • Taxi Encounters - Rio de Janeiro

The fourth in a travel series about unique taxi experiences in the cities of the world.

As a traveler, often our first impression of a city and its people is the journey from a station or airport in a taxi. From the black cabs encircling the thoroughfares of London, to the taxi boats of Venice, not forgetting the iconic Tuk Tuks of Thailand, the unique taxis of different cities have become iconic and the journeys in them defining moments in our encounters with the cities they frequent.

In the fourth part in Louis Vuitton’s travel series ‘Taxi Encounters’, we find ourselves in Rio de Janeiro, beneath the Corcovado and towering landscapes of this coastal paradise. Rio de Janeiro, meaning literally ‘January River’, is known throughout the world for its natural scenery, famous beaches such as Copacabana and Ipanema, as well as Brazilian dance and music genres samba and bossa nova.

As part of Louis Vuitton's mini-site louisvuitton-histoires.com, discover this short animated film following the Louis Vuitton luggage through the decades.

At the dawn of the 20th century, luggage crafted by Louis Vuitton - most famously the Wardrobe trunk and the Steamer bag - accompanied passengers on the world’s first transatlantic liners. The legend lives on today.

What a distance we have travelled since the advent of the transatlantic liner. From a time when Louis Vuitton trunks accompanied their owners on the long ocean crossing, to the high-speed journeys of today, with a Keepall on our shoulder or a trolley case in our hand.

Since 1854, Louis Vuitton has explored new frontiers and pushed the limits of innovation. A pioneering spirit defines its' history, and the technological advances in the transportation system fired the imagination of the House. This four-wheel trolley, the Zéphyr, is in line with this inventive spirit.

Discover the new collaboration between Louis Vuitton and street artists through a collection of giant squares.

Louis Vuitton has invited three street artists – Eko Nugroho from Indonesia, EINE from London, and Franco-Tunisian eL Seed – to bring their vision on the House’s giant square. This new collaboration follows up last season’s initiative to work with the Street Art scene, with pieces from AIKO, RETNA and Os Gemeos.

The excitement of travel is at the heart of EINE’s piece, through the phrase “Great Adventures” written in his emblematic bright and colorful block letters. The mix of pop influences and more traditional inspirations can be seen in Eko Nugroho’s intriguing designs, while eL Seed uses Arabic Calligraffiti to draw upon the Monogram pattern.

A new exhibition at the Espace culturel Louis Vuitton explores the role of others in the construction of one’s own identity.

From June 5th until September 15th 2013, ‘Otherness. I is Somebody Else’ will be exhibited at the Espace culturel Louis Vuitton in Paris. Exploring the eternal question of identity, this journey plunges into the deepest part of oneself and pushes boundaries of knowledge and consciousness from the private realm to the discovery of the Other.

The artists who have been selected to represent this existential issue are from different countries and backgrounds. From the stage costumes of renowned performance artist Leigh Bowery to the expressionist drawings of exiled artist Reza Hazare, the works in this exhibition open up new ideas and new spaces.
