The Monumenta ankle boot is inspired by the work of Carlo Scarpa, one of the great Italian architects of the 20th century. Carlo Scarpa is best known for the symmetry and starkness of his lines, as well as his towering style.
Comic book artist Esad Ribic draws the Hawaiian islands in a vigorous and realistic style.
Esad Ribić has been drawing for as long as he can remember. He attended the Institute of Applied Arts in Zagreb, located within the Museum of Decorative Arts. Ribić began his career in art when he chose to study graphic arts. Growing up, Esad was mad about comic strips, and pretty much taught himself to read from them.
Ribić applies color directly to paper, mixing watercolor and gouache, in other words, he paints. Collectors snap up the original art from his books. Thanks to his sense of mise en scène, taste for detail and genius for color, they are real paintings.
Each Travel Book contains the artist's biography, travelogue, blurbs and captions. In its pages are the illustrations of renowned artists, and promising young talents telling the stories of the cities and countries they have visited, depicting each place’s varied architecture and special light, while recording the passing days and lives of its people.
For each new title, a numbered and signed limited edition is available in select Louis Vuitton stores.
