The "Volez, Voguez, Voyagez – Louis Vuitton" exhibition opens its doors for the first time in New York City, at the historic American Stock Exchange, from October 27th, 2017 through January 7th, 2018.
Curated by Olivier Saillard, the exhibition retraces Louis Vuitton’s great journey from 1854 until today, through archives of the family’s founding members, to those who create the Louis Vuitton of today.
Since the end of the 19th century, Louis Vuitton has always maintained strong ties with the United States of America. Georges Vuitton first introduced the House to the New World at the 1893 Chicago World Fair and began selling Louis Vuitton products in New York and Philadelphia in 1898. A faithful American clientele rapidly grew, with the Vanderbilts and the Rockfellers, Mary Pickford and Lauren Bacall, Ernest Hemingway and F. Scott Fitzgerald among the long list of renowned clients. Later, the collaborations with contemporary artists such as Stephen Sprouse and Jeff Koons added another milestone to the relations between Louis Vuitton and the United States of America.
